“Dentistry allows me to know and help people in ways that most doctors, most people, never experience. I appreciate the trust my patients put in me and strive to provide the best that modern dentistry has to offer.”

Dr. Alan Budd, Associate

Dr. Alan Budd joined as an associate in Dental Health and Wellness Boston in 2003. He graduated from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1983. Dr. Budd has diverse training in general dentistry and has practiced in a variety of clinical settings. His special interest includes Restorative Dentistry and has trained at The Pankey Institute. Dr Budd has also been interviewed on television and lectured to hundreds of colleagues on his use of oral appliances to address bite problems and relieve jaw problems, and prevent migraine headaches.

For Dr. Budd dentistry is a perfect fit. Volunteer service has long been a part of his life: mentoring as a big brother, recording books on tape for the blind, and making weekly home visits to the elderly. Choosing to become a dentist and care for patients was part of a natural progression. After graduation Dr. Budd entered the US Public Health Services Dental Corps. Operating for two years in an under served area provided an opportunity to address the health needs of a disadvantaged population, while developing the clinical skills he now brings to the practice.

To give back to his Alma mater, Br. Budd joined the Tufts faculty in 1985 as a Clinical Instructor and retired 13 years later as Assistant Professor of Restorative Dentistry. Being in academia reinforced his commitment to being a lifelong student. He constantly attends more continuing education courses than required for licensure and is an active member of the Mass Dental Society, American Dental Association, and Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity.

Dr. Budd now devotes his professional time exclusively to private practice. He strives to make dentistry as comfortable as possible with a laid-back approach and a good sense of humor. “If I can get my patients to smile or laugh in the chair, I feel like the appointment was a success.”
