Orthodontics is a field of dentistry that helps work towards fixing crooked teeth and abnormal bites. In simpler language, we want to make your teeth straight. Orthodontic services cover, but are not limited to, the following dental services:

  • Braces
  • Invisalign
  • Retainers
  • Six Month Smiles

It’s estimated that 1 out of every 5 orthodontic patients are over 21.

While many people choose to use orthodontics for cosmetic reasons, misaligned teeth can cause serious issues. In some cases, misaligned teeth can intensify plaque build-up, cause intense pain, and more.

It’s completely understandable that you might feel a bit anxious coming in to visit an orthodontist. That’s why Dental Health & Wellness Boston aims to make it as simple and laid back as possible for you.

Your Orthodontic Timeline

Early Treatment

We offer a consultation where we will take a look at your mouth and see what’s going on. We may use our state-of-the-art 3D computer modeling program to help us understand how your jaw is closing along with your tooth structure. From that consultation, we can better understand if you even need our services or not. More often than not, we see many patients suffer from overcrowded mouths, crossbites, and more. We try everything in our power to give you a pain-free solution before we break out the heavy equipment.

For those of you with children:
The earlier you bring your kids in to get assessed, the better. It’s often recommended to have your kids see an orthodontist by age 7. While this might sound young, this is when your kids start losing their teeth.

The earlier your orthodontist can help shape those dental growth patterns, the less work that will have to be done with braces in later years.

Braces/Invisalign

If realignment is needed, we can help. We use standard braces along with Invisalign, a painless, easy, and metal-free brace alternative. Instead of unsightly metal popping out of your mouth, you can use the “invisible braces” from Invisalign to get the orthodontic help you need.

Each orthodontic case can take any number of time. Rest assured that Dental Health & Wellness Boston wants you to get through this experience as fast and pain-free as possible.

We also work with Six Month Smiles, a combination of Invisalign and brace technology to provide fast treatment. Average treatments last 6 months, but can vary on a case by case basis.

Getting braces for yourself and not your kids? Don’t worry! It’s estimated that 1 out of every 5 orthodontic patients are over 21. What’s most important is giving you the smile you’ve always wanted.

Post-Braces Orthodontic Care

Using braces can be an intensive process. After your braces have been removed, we may recommend using a retainer to prevent teeth from being pulled back into place. When you’re eating, pop out your retainer, and leave it in the rest of the time. You won’t necessarily always need a retainer as well, so keep that in mind.
